In November 2014, Jim Harris’ life changed dramatically following a ski accident in Punta Arenas, Chile. The crash found him with a back injury in an unfamiliar hospital in the South American country. Harris took a 19-hour flight to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center before transferring to the world renown spinal center at Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colo. Harris had fractured four vertebrae and was partially paralyzed from the chest down.

This March Empowerment grant for Jim Harris will provide him one-on-one personal training utilizing cutting edge technology by the specialized staff at the PEAK Center at Craig Hospital. This highly focused training program will help Jim in his goal to strengthen his legs, core and spine enough to walk again. Jim has already been making major steps towards his recovery.  This past week he began walking unassisted for the first time since his accident

  1. Thank you for supporting Jim Harris during his rehabilitation at Craig Hospital. There’s not a day I don’t think about High Fives Foundation and the good you do for so many injured athletes. At a time when it feels like the rug’s been pulled out from under life you guys are there reaching out to others.

  2. I cannot think of an individual who has given so much of himself in the past by providing joy, adventure, excitement and “edge of your seat” stories and photography. I get to live the way I wish I could have through his work
..he inspires me even more so now! What an amazing individual who always gives 130%…he comes from good stock! God bless him with a long life and continued recovery so he can get back to where he belongs!

  3. HighFives support of Jim has been wonderful. Great to know there’s as group out there to help those who make outdoors their carriers! Keep up the good work.
