Hailing from the Midwest, Tyler spent his childhood chasing his two older brothers around Rockford, Illinois. He later transitioned to the University of Iowa, spent a semester as skipper of the Jungle Cruise in the Walt Disney World College Program, and then proceeded to graduate. Tyler’s first position after higher learning took him to the Rocky Mountains, however, a visit to the Tahoe area lured him to the Eastern Sierra. Mr. Lightcap then found himself enjoying a fruitful career at Wells Fargo and subsequently made Truckee his home. For the last seven years Tyler has been facilitating growth in the community of Truckee, CA.

Galen Gifford | Tahoe City, CA

Galen Gifford was raised in North Lake Tahoe and grew up riding Homewood, Squaw, and Alpine and enjoying all the amazing adventures that Tahoe offers. After traveling the world Galen returned to meet his wife, Shayla, start a family and dig his roots even deeper into the North Tahoe/Truckee/Reno greater community. A family man, Galen, is President and Co-Founder of bigtruck brand and works as a manager for Olympic Athlete Julia Mancuso. Being on the board of The High Fives Foundation to raise awareness and money for injured athletes who have suffered a life altering injury is a priority for Galen as he has seen first hand the incredible impact the High Fives Foundation has on not only it’s athletes but the entire community.

Dana Greenwood | Reno, NV

Growing up in North Dakota and Minnesota, Dana found his way to Lake Tahoe while earning a BS in Business Administration and International Business at Sierra Nevada College in 2001. He is now the President of his Sales Agency, Read & Run Inc. comprising Blizzard Skis, Tecnica Ski Boots, POC Snow, The Soze Group, Holmenkol and Fast Strap. Dana lives in Reno, NV with his wife Amanda, baby girl Michaela and 2 dogs (Brucey & Scooby).

Patrick Bruce | Tahoe City, CA

Treasurer| Sr. Finance Analyst – Tahoe Forest Health System

A South Side Chicago native, Patrick clicked into his first pair of skis at Squaw Valley in 1984 while following his father around on a business trip to California. After high school, Patrick headed west to attend the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1993 where he studied Economics and graduated in four years. Patrick heard the coast calling and relocated to San Francisco in 1997 where he received his M.S. in Finance from University of San Francisco (2009), met his future wife Jacqueline and welcomed their two sons: Jack Robert and Alec Patrick. While in San Francisco he worked for a derivatives market making firm, a boutique investment bank, and an international private equity firm making markets in equity and index derivatives, foreign exchange analysis, and global M&A. A solid 12 year tenure. After spending nearly every weekend up in Lake Tahoe, Patrick and his family relocated to Tahoe City in 2009. In keeping with family tradition, both Bruce boys clipped in for the Squaw Valley Ski Team while attending the Charter School in Squaw Valley.When Patrick isn’t out grabbing life by the throat he is the Sr. Finance Analyst for the Tahoe Forest Health System and an Adjunct Economics Professor at Sierra College. His expertise lies in international macroeconomic policy, equity and index derivative price discovery, private equity, international finance and healthcare finance. If needed, Patrick can be found meandering around Squaw Valley, doing back flips off Chambers pier, hitting golf balls straight and far at Tahoe City Golf Club, running marathons, listening to records, playing guitar, and/or sending backcountry terrain on his snow machines.

Ryan Williams | Truckee, CA

Member at Large | Northwestern Mutual: Financial Representative

Ryan Williams has been a staple in the Truckee community for past decade helping businesses and families create financial security with investments, life insurance and disability insurance with Northwestern Mutual. He moved to Truckee in 1995 as a professional snowboarder for Burton Snowboards, and became an X Games medalist by 1998, while featured in Warren Miller and Standard Films movies and dozens of international publications. He was fortunate to meet his wife Natalia, who was on the Burton team at the same time, and today they enjoy the Truckee community with their seven year old daughter. Recognized for community involvement, Ryan Williams is a proud partner of High Fives Non-Profit Foundation, Board Director of KidZone Museum, Tahoe Forest Hospital Sports Medicine/Orthopedic Advisory Board Member and Rotarian. The mission of The High Fives Foundation fits directly in line with his mission, dedicated to helping people pursue their dreams, with the best possible tools.

Dr. James Lynch | Reno, NV

Medical Director | SpineNevada: Board-Certified Spinal Neurosurgeon

Dr. James Lynch is a board-certified neurosurgeon with 19 years of experience, who specializes in complex spine surgery, cervical disorders, degenerative spine, spinal deformities, trauma, tumor infection and minimally invasive spine surgery. Becker’s Orthopedic & Spine Review has announced that Dr. Lynch has been selected for the 100 of the Best Spine Surgeons and Specialists in America list in 2011.He earned his medical degree from Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, followed by a residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Dr. Lynch went on to complete a spine fellowship at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in Queens Square, London, UK, followed by a spine fellowship at Mayo Clinic and an additional spine fellowship under Volker Sonntag, MD, at the prestigious Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ. As a leading authority on Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) development, Dr. Lynch lectures at national meetings on outpatient spine surgery. He serves as Chairman and Director of Spine Programs at Surgery Center of Reno, NV.

Phil Olsen | Tahoe City, CA

Authorized Representative | Nevada Supreme Court: Former Settlement Conference Judge

Phil Olsen is a long-time North Lake Tahoe resident and Squaw Valley skier. An attorney licensed in both California and Nevada, he is a former Nevada Supreme Court settlement conference judge. He is also the Captain of Beard Team USA which competes for America at the World Beard and Moustache Championships. Beard Team USA recently named the High Fives Foundation its official charity.

Bill Hudson | Olympic Valley, CA

Member at Large | Sugar Bowl Ski Team and Academy: Director Athletic Programs

Bill Hudson was raised in Squaw Valley, California. An eight year U.S. Ski Team member, national combined champion, x-games silver medalist, and 1988 Olympic Team Member, skiing is in his blood, as his mother (Sally) was also an Olympian (Oslo, 1952). In addition to the High Fives board, Bill is a current or past board member of a number of local non-profits. Bill enjoys life, especially hanging out with his wife Kathrin and children Sophia, Bodie, and McCoy as well as Spike the dog.

Scott Roberds | Olympic Valley, CA

Member at Large | Co-Founder & President, MicroLumen

Scott grew up skiing in Connecticut at Ski Sundown. While attending University of Tennessee @ Chattanooga, he began a startup plastics company, eventually relocating the company to Florida. Scott is Co-founder & President of MicroLumen, which has become a worldwide leader in the development of high performance medical plastics, used throughout the low-invasive cardiovascular medical device industry. He moved to Squaw Valley, USA in 2008 to be closer to the outdoors and the things he is passionate about, and the positive attitude and community involvement the people of Lake Tahoe offer. He reached out to Roy and High Fives Foundation, after learning about its mission to raise awareness for athletes that have suffered life-altering injuries while pursuing their dreams. Scott brings his experience and his passion for winter sports to his new role on the Board of Directors.

Sam Gharabally | San Francisco, CA

Member at Large | Sr. Engineering Manager, Apple

Sam Gharabally grew up riding in the small but bone chilling foothills of Minnesota (elev. 1,075′). He moved East to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he honed his abilities to write code — that is, carve the gnarly ice of Wachusett Mountain (elev. 2,006 ft). This effort was for nought, as Sam was pulled Westward by the opportunity to build iTunes at Apple in 2004. He swiftly made Tahoe his second (first?) home, organizing ski leases with top athletes, winning costume contests, and spreading good cheer (and high fives!) all throughout Olympic Valley. He is passionate about helping athletes achieve their goals and inspiring others to chase their dreams. In his spare time, Sam plays drums in the band Speeding Ticket (a Chammy favorite!) and leads the And Go… team for the annual Tour de Cure cycling event benefiting the American Diabetes Association.

Stefan Humphries | Reno, NV

Member at Large | Physiatrist, Medical Director of Renown Rehabilitation Hospital

Dr. Stefan Humphries is a board-certified Physiatrist with 16 years of experience, specializing in general rehabilitation, including inpatient (Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury) and outpatient (Musculoskeletal, Neurodegenerative) Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He earned his undergrad degree in Bio-Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI. He subsequently attended medical school at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, CO, followed by a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He also finished an MBA at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Dr. Humphries has served as the Medical Director of Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Colorado Springs in Colorado Springs, CO, and subsequently as the Medical Director of St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Hospital in Spokane, Washington prior to his recruitment to Reno 3 years ago. Dr. Humphries is currently a practicing Physiatrist and the Medical Director of Renown Rehabilitation Hospital.

Jill Stockton | Reno, NV

Member at Large | UNR Reynold’s School of Journalism: Public Relations Professional

Jill’s first time on the snow was in January of 2006 at Squaw Valley. She’s a native New Orleanian who’d recently located to Reno, Nev. from Tampa Fla. She’d never seen snow, much less tried to slide around on it! Her first time on the snow was a success; her second time…not so much. On her second day on the mountain the “Cajun Kamikaze” suffered a tibia/fibula spiral fracture to her left leg. She was having so much fun on the mountain when she crashed she decided to work hard to recover from the injury and come back stronger and more determined than ever. By day Jill works as a public relations professional. She’s the communications specialist for the Reynolds’s School of Journalism at the University of Nevada, Reno. She’s also served as a senior account executive for The Ferraro Group, a leading Nevada public relations and public affairs firm, and communications manager for the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority. She’s a member of the Holland Project Reno advisory board, and is a Past-President of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. In her free time Jill enjoys experiencing live music, cheering on the New Orleans Saints, spending time outdoors, swimming across Donner Lake, playing with her son, Ryan, and making her husband Howie laugh.
