9/11 Memorial Stair Climb 2026 | 121 Climbers Come Together for Remembrance and Mental Health

On September 11, 2026, the Truckee community came together once again for the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, honoring the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, while raising funds to support mental health resources in the Truckee, Tahoe and Reno region.

This year marked the largest Stair Climb yet, with 121 participants taking on the challenge of climbing 110 flights of stairs, representing the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

More than a physical challenge, the morning was an opportunity to remember, reflect and support one another.

A Community Tradition That Continues to Grow

What began with just five participants in 2021 has grown into an annual Truckee tradition.

Participants by year:
2021 — 5
2022 — 10
2023 — 18
2024 — 68
2025 — 82
2026 — 121

In six years, participation has grown from five climbers to more than 120 people coming together for a shared purpose.

“It was another beautiful day for the 9/11 Stair Climb here in Truckee. Not only did the firefighters show up in a big way, but the locals came out to remember the fallen once again. This is a special event, and although there are stair climbs going on all around the country, this one is ours — and I love it!”
Ryan Bridges, Founder of the Truckee 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

$10,000 Raised for Mental Health

Along with record participation, the 2026 Stair Climb raised $10,000 to support local mental health resources.

The event’s fundraising impact has continued to grow:

2024: $2,565
2025: $9,032
2026: $10,000

That brings the total raised over the past three years to $21,597.

Every flight climbed, donation made and person who showed up helps turn remembrance into meaningful support for people in our community.
