Non-Profit Spotlight: Disabled Sports USA – Far West
The High Fives Foundation took Tony Schmiesing skiing this past winter with help from the great folks at Disabled Sports USA – Far West (Alpine Meadows). Brian Sheckler of DSUSA-FW took the reigns (literally) of Tony’s bi-ski and helped him become (what is believed to be), the first bi-skier to ride a wall ride terrain park feature. This came about due to Tony’s burning desire to feel vert on his new bi-ski. With the two local halfpipes under re-construction, the plan was changed and the team headed to Alpine Meadows to cruise the terrain park. What ensued amazed everyone on the snow that day; thanks for inspiring us Tony!
