High Fives Takes on Waco Surf

From October 4–6, 2027, High Fives Foundation brought 22 adaptive athletes together in Waco, Texas, for three unforgettable days of surfing, progression, and community.

With 26 hours of surfing, athletes pushed their limits, celebrated personal milestones, and cheered each other on through every wave. From catching barrels to building confidence, the energy in and out of the water was unmatched.

The Stoke Was Real!

“Getting to be in the pool with other High Fives athletes, watching them progress and push new boundaries, gave me such confidence to do the same and try even harder to level up in the surf Ohana!” Josh Bogle, High Fives Athlete

“Every moment was my favorite moment. Seeing everyone hit their goal was incredible; Tyler getting barreled, Jenna getting an amazing wave and throwing her hands up, Dariel pulling into waves last second and crushing it. What an amazing group of athletes!” Red Ramos, High Fives Athlete

“The Waco camp was the peak of feeling the energy of this supportive community. Athletes cheering from the water, cheering from the land, encouraging one another to level up, and celebrating wave after wave together is something that can never be described, just felt…I love that everyone wants everyone to send it and succeed. My favorite moment was catching one of my longest waves all the way to the wall, then hearing the cheers and seeing arms waving from the beach celebrating!” Jenna Nascimento, High Fives Athlete

“This year’s Waco Surf Camp was truly incredible. With 22 athletes and the most amazing watermen support and volunteers, the levels of stoke and Ohana were through the roof.” Matt Herrera, Staff Member

Waco Surf Camp was about more than surfing. It was about pushing boundaries, building confidence, and experiencing the power of community. Every wave was an opportunity to grow, and every cheer was a reminder that no athlete rides alone.

High Fives to all 22 athletes, the incredible water safety crew, and volunteers who made this unforgettable experience possible!
