Al Sanderson
Surfing with his son on holiday, Al wiped out hitting his head on the bottom and breaking his neck. His son had to pull him out of the water. Al went into cardiac arrest for about 10 minutes having other surfers, including a nurse, perform CPR until the paramedics arrived. Al was rushed to the ICU, where emergency surgery was performed on his neck. Al was diagnosed with a C4 spinal cord injury.
