Josh was injured in a motocross accident while competing in an indoor Arenacross race in Nashville, TN, in 2001. As he approached a turn, he realized he could not slow down enough and was headed straight for a wall. He bailed off the bike and hit the ground headfirst, compressing his spine. He was rushed by ambulance to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for more than 10 hours.
