Mike Passo

Mike worked for a YMCA Camp every summer called Camp Manito-wish in Northern Wisconsin. One night after dinner and before putting the kids down for the night, he snuck out for a quick mountain bike ride. Mike rode every day and did several races each year including the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival and several local triathalons. Mike had to turn around early to get back to the kids while the rest of his group continued on a longer ride. On the way back, he buried the front time of his mountain bike in some deep sand at the bottom of a hill and flipped over the handlebars. For some reason, he didn’t kick out of his toeclips and the weight of the bike coming down as he landed on his upper shoulders shattered half of each of my T 10 and T11 vertebrae. This caused instant paralysis.
