Sam was on a ski trip in Jackson Hole with a handful of friends. After dropping into a chute and landing it fine initially, about 10 feet later, his tips caught a rock hidden underneath the snow, and torpedoed downhill. He hit a small boulder and sustained a T4/5 spinal cord injury.
