Scott was injured while surfing in Oceanside, California in September 2025 after being caught by the foam ball while pulling into a backside barrel and driven headfirst into the sand. The impact left him immediately paralyzed and trapped underwater as waves continued to break over him. He was ultimately rescued by Judah, a surfer he had met only about 20 minutes earlier, who recognized the situation and pulled him to safety just in time.
