This summer High Fives launched a Adaptive Wake Surfing program on Lake Tahoe. Powered by our dedicated partners at MasterCraft, SWIFT Institute, Melin, Scheels, Slowtide and inspired by our commitment to adaptive sports, the program has far exceeded expectations. Over the course of the summer, we hosted 45 adaptive surf trips, with almost 100 athlete surf sessions taking place on the stunning waters of Lake Tahoe.
“High Fives has created an amazing adaptive surf program which was built on world-class surf breaks and international competitions. After years of traveling to find waves, we are finally bringing the waves to Tahoe with a MasterCraft X24. We have the most beautiful backdrop of terrain, with the bluest water, and access to lakes around the Reno-Tahoe area. With the use of this boat, we were able to bring adaptive surfing and the healing powers of water to all in the basin.”
– Roy Tuscany, founder and CEO of High Fives Foundation
The success of this innovative program didn’t go unnoticed. It was featured in several news outlets, including CBS 2News, which highlighted the launch of High Fives Foundation’s New Adaptive Wake Surfing Clinic. Additionally, KOLO 8 News Now reported on the collaborative effort between High Fives Foundation and MasterCraft to bring adaptive wake surfing to Lake Tahoe. These features helped bring attention to the life-changing opportunities adaptive sports offer and the incredible resilience of our athletes.
As we reflect on this summer’s successes, we are grateful for the growth of the adaptive wake surfing program and the lives it has impacted. We look forward to expanding these efforts in the future, providing even more athletes with the opportunity to experience the joy and empowerment of adaptive sports on the water.
Stay tuned for more waves of excitement in 2025 and beyond as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible for adaptive athletes!
