Lee Canyon Hosts Southern Nevada’s First-Ever Adaptive Mountain Biking Experience

Lee Canyon and High Fives Foundation present Community Bike Day, an event making mountain biking more accessible and inclusive. For the first time at Lee Canyon, adaptive mountain bikes, including handcycles, recumbent bikes, and inclusive trikes, will be available free of charge on Friday, Sept. 13, from 1 to 5 p.m. People must reserve adaptive bikes online in advance (link here); reservations also include a complimentary lift ticket.

High Fives’ team of adaptive mountain athletes will showcase their skills. Mountain bike demos, giveaways, and music will also be on Hillside Lodge’s Sky Deck. More information is at www.leecanyonlv.com

“Community Bike Day is about bringing together people of all abilities to celebrate mountain biking and the outdoors. The outdoors should be for everyone. At Lee Canyon, we’re working to make adventuring in nature more within reach.”

Says Dan Hooper, Lee Canyon’s general manager

The event is part of Lee Canyon’s Feel Good Fridays fundraiser for the High Fives Foundation. Every Friday, starting Sept. 6 through late October, lift tickets for Lee Canyon’s downhill mountain bike park, mountain bike rentals, and Experience Downhill will be just $25. $5 of every sale will be donated to the Reno-based nonprofit that helps people who’ve sustained life-altering injuries get back into the outdoors through adaptive sports like mountain biking and skiing.

Feel Good Fridays launched in March 2017, and since then, Lee Canyon has raised more than $100,000 for High Fives.

“Growing our winter Feel Good Fridays relationship to include summer and fall for mountain biking is exciting. This year-round partnership means more adaptive sports opportunities for people in Nevada. Lee Canyon has been a favorite place to visit in the winter, and I’m looking forward to more trips throughout the year.”

Says Roy Tuscany, CEO and founder of High Fives Foundation

Since the 2019/2020 winter season, Lee Canyon has invested $17 million into projects like the downhill mountain bike park, the new Ponderosa quad chair and the Alpenglow conveyor lift, which create access to more diverse terrain suitable for a broad audience. Lee Canyon’s downhill mountain bike park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through late fall, weather permitting.
