The Pura Vida Path follows the inspiring journey of Dariel Meléndez, a 23-year-old adaptive athlete from Costa Rica whose resilience and passion for the ocean have shaped his path forward.
Raised surrounded by nature, Dariel discovered a love for the water while learning to swim alongside his grandfather. After a traumatic train accident as a child resulted in the loss of his leg, he faced unimaginable adversity, including the passing of his grandfather. Through perseverance, adaptive sports, and an unwavering spirit, Dariel transformed hardship into purpose.
The documentary celebrates resilience, healing, and the power of embracing life with a “Pura Vida” mindset. Selected for the Vegas Summer League Film Festival, the film highlights how adaptive sports and community can inspire hope, redefine possibilities, and empower individuals to continue chasing their dreams.
