As a former firefighter, hiking was an activity that Mia participated in on a weekly basis. At the age of 20, Mia was hiking through Sequoia National Park when she fell 50 ft. off a cliff and sustained a complete T9 spinal cord injury.

Mia has worked hard to gain contraction below her level of injury and practices using a walker using AFOs in therapy. She hopes to continue down this path and walk unassisted by the therapist when assisted by the AFO.
