On October 17, 2020, Kyle was in the mountains of northern New Mexico, doing what he loves most: being outside on his bike. It was the last run of the day, and he was speeding down a gnarly trail at Angel Fire Mountain Bike Park. he lost control on a turn and slammed his reconstructed left leg. Inside his left leg was metal rods that replaced the infected bone from cancer at 14yrs old with the hopes of preserving my limb. 

During his mountain bike accident, he hit exactly the femur, where the endoprosthesis was anchored. he completely fractured his femur, and the internal prosthetic shattered and separated from his leg. Kyle was lying there and knew the day he had feared all these years had finally come—he would lose my leg.
