On June 23, 2023, while mountain biking in the Chilliwack area, Doug was descending a steep section of trail when he clipped a tree causing his bike to veer into a ravine, and throwing him over the handlebars. Upon landing on his head, he heard his neck break, immediately realizing that life was about to change dramatically.
