Watch High Fives Athlete #353 Sam Audenino return to moto biking!
In 2017, Sam Audenino from Thousand Oaks, California, suffered a complete spinal cord injury from a mountain biking accident at Snow Summit Bike Park. After attempting a hip jump he had never seen before, Sam went over the handlebars and landed face-first, resulting in a burst fracture at T8. Since then, he hasn’t ridden until now, thanks to the partnership between High Fives and Motodemption. These organizations provide adapted bikes equipped with hand controls, cages and straps, allowing riders to experience the thrill of biking again. Initially nervous, Sam quickly found his rhythm on the bike, rediscovering the sense of freedom he once had. He emphasizes that life post-injury can still be enjoyable, with plenty of adaptive sports options available, including moto biking, surfing, and more.
With the support of High Fives, Sam has reconnected with a community that celebrates adventure and resilience. His journey is a testament to the fact that, despite challenges, there are still exhilarating experiences to be had.
