On March 25, 2020, James lost control of his motorcycle on a gravel driveway, crashing into a parked van and suffering severe spinal injuries that left him a quadriplegic. His left arm was nearly unresponsive, and recovery was slow, with only minimal movement returning after a year of rehabilitation. Though his right arm remained stronger, limited hand mobility made everyday tasks challenging, serving as a constant reminder of the fragility of life.
