George was injured while swimming in the Yellowstone River with friends when he dove into a shallow section of the water and struck his head. The impact caused fractures to his C4 and C5 vertebrae, leaving him unable to move and at risk of drowning. A close friend quickly pulled him from the river and brought him to shore, ultimately saving his life.
