Kevin was injured while snowboarding when he hit an unmarked cat track while transitioning between lifts. As he made a heel-side turn over a knoll, he fell approximately 12 feet and landed directly on his butt. The impact caused a burst fracture of his T12 vertebra, resulting in paralysis.
