Emilia was injured while free-soloing a slab in Boulder, Colorado, when they pulled a rock loose and lost their footing. They tumbled approximately 100 feet down the rock face and landed unconscious on a ledge, suffering a devastating injury to their right ankle. After spending several days in the ICU, followed by a week in the hospital and a week in rehabilitation, they ultimately chose to undergo a right foot amputation to return to their active lifestyle as quickly and fully as possible.
