Leslie was injured while riding her dirt bike home through the country, where she was traveling in the ditches to avoid the paved road. A car turned left in front of her, launching her over the ditch and sending her headfirst into a concrete culvert. The crash resulted in multiple injuries, including a fractured skull, a compressed T8 vertebra, a broken right rib and shoulder blade, and significant soft-tissue damage to her right shoulder.
