Return to Dirt Annual Boys Camp 2026 | Getting Dirty in Colorado

August 30 – September 3, 2026 | Glenwood Springs, Colorado

8 Adaptive Athletes | 5 Days of Adventure | Endless Stoke

Eight adaptive athletes, five days, and one unforgettable adventure in the Colorado mountains!

From August 30 through September 3, High Fives Foundation’s Return to Dirt program brought together eight adaptive athletes for the 2026 Annual Boys Camp in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. With a packed schedule of off-road driving, paragliding, paramotoring, and fishing, the camp was all about pushing boundaries, embracing adventure, and strengthening friendships.

The Colorado mountains provided the ultimate playground for this year’s crew. Athletes climbed into adaptive UTVs equipped with hand controls to explore rugged mountain terrain, navigate challenging trails, and experience the freedom of off-road adventure.

But the excitement didn’t stop on the ground.

Athletes also took to the skies through paragliding and paramotoring, experiencing Colorado’s incredible mountain landscape from an entirely different perspective. With changing weather and unpredictable flying conditions, the crew had to remain flexible, patient, and ready to make the most of every opportunity.

Between the high-adrenaline adventures, fishing provided a chance to slow down, enjoy the outdoors, and connect with fellow athletes.

Rain or Shine, the Stoke Was High

Adventure rarely goes exactly as planned, and this year’s camp was no exception. High-altitude rainstorms rolled through the mountains, creating challenging conditions for the UTV rides, while shifting weather kept the paragliding plans unpredictable.

But a little rain wasn’t going to stop this crew.

“Eight adaptive athletes braved high-altitude rainstorms in the UTVs and persevered through changing paragliding conditions. Most importantly, everyone got dirty!”

— Tim Burr, Return to Dirt Manager

Through every weather delay, muddy trail, and unexpected challenge, the athletes continued to show up with determination, enthusiasm, and a willingness to embrace whatever the mountains had in store.

While the UTV rides, flights, and fishing adventures were unforgettable, the real magic of Return to Dirt happens through the connections made along the way.

For athletes navigating life after a life-changing injury, opportunities to experience adventure alongside others who understand their journey can be incredibly powerful.

The Annual Boys Camp creates space for athletes to challenge themselves, share experiences, build confidence, and form friendships that extend far beyond the trails.

Eight athletes. Five days. Countless memories. And yes, everyone got dirty!

High Fives Foundation’s Return to Dirt program provides opportunities for individuals with life-changing injuries to experience the freedom and excitement of off-road adventure through adaptive equipment, experienced support, and a community that believes in what’s possible.

A huge High Five to the athletes, staff, volunteers, and supporters who helped make the 2026 Annual Boys Camp an unforgettable experience.

Until the next adventure, keep getting dirty!

HIGH FIVE! 🖐️
