The mountains called and so High Fives went skiing!
The High Fives Foundation and Disabled Sports USA Far West enjoyed a sunny ski day at Alpine Meadows with three #HighFivesAthletes on 1.15.2015. #HighFivesAthlete Ezra Mcphail received a board-approved grant for ski lessons and travel to DSUSA Far West at Alpine Meadows. Ezra traveled from Duluth, MN to ski along side Disabled Sports instructor Bill “Bones” Bowness and the High Fives Team, Roy Tuscany and Steve Wallace. View our picture diary of the day below.
Ezra has an amazing talent for the mono ski. “My attitude is that if you push me towards a weakness, I will turn that weakness into a strength,” Ezra said.
Keep up the good work! We can’t wait to see more from you!
In December 2011 young Ezra McPhail was playing hockey in hopes of receiving a college scholarship. During a game Ezra was checked into the boards by an opponent who was ducked down to one knee. The contact resulted in Ezra going head first into the boards, breaking his back at T5/6 causing partial paralysis. Since his 2011 injury Ezra has worked incredibly hard to gain independence, and he has found that freedom in skiing.
Ezra I am so excited for you to be able to push your limits again!!
Looks amazing
