High Fives Athlete Andrew Kurka speaks about the 2015 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Panorama, Canada
In his words, ‘World Championships has just ended and the adventure was as fun as could be. Team USA had some great podiums, including Mark Bathum and Danielle Umstead putting down some impressive finishes. CBC aired all our competitions live and online HERE is a link to the SuperG competition.
Team USA unfortunately had some injuries and a few set backs coming into World Champs but all in all managed an impressive 7 medals.
I personally could not be more proud to be with Team USA. Especially after breaking my femur a little over a 12weeks ago. Getting the opportunity to compete at world championships has been a highlight of my career. Managing a bronze medal in the SuperG after being back on snow for three weeks makes me even more excited to stay in shape this summer and hit the World Cup Circuit hard again next year! Though as a team our season isn’t over! Our next races will be US Nationals at Loon Mountain in a little over a week.
Just starting my career and with all the difficulty I have had with a bumpy road here in the beginning. All I can say is THANK YOU, all those that have stood behind me and supported me means more than what words can describe. I hope to give back with the best of my abilities!”
