I’ve been very fortunate to be able to return to cycling, and have enjoyed participating in the para-cycling categories at several events. This grant will give me the tools I need to build the strength and flexibility to attempt finishing longer events. I’ve set the 100-mile course at SBTGRVL as my goal for the season, which will be nearly double the length of the longest gravel race I’ve attempted to start since becoming paraplegic in 2019

“The hit-and-run threw me into a ditch. I was only semi-conscious but I understood that to get help, I had to get out of that ditch, and I wriggled my way to the top, and was spotted and saved. Now, I have to wriggle out of that ditch every day.”

“This grant will allow me to continue training at the CU Sports Medicine and Performance Center, where I have been working since November to regain strength in my partially paralyzed left leg. Since starting there, I have been able to strengthen the muscles in my leg that are currently working. This work is helping me to get back on my bike.“
