Ben Berliner
Ben was injured on a rainy Sunday while riding with a group of motorcyclists returning home from a week-long adventure. On a technical stretch of road, he lost traction on a wet painted centerline and was separated from his motorcycle, which slid safety to the side of the road, while he was struck and run over by an oncoming pickup truck. He was airlifted to Santa Rosa, where he spent 30 days in the ICU before transferring to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose for another two months of recovery and rehabilitation as he learned to navigate life in his new body.
“Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery.”
