While mountain biking in North Tahoe, Chester was thrown over the handlebars and landed on his head, sustaining three neck fractures. After being stabilized by North Tahoe Fire and Rescue, he was airlifted for emergency care, a follow-up surgery was later required to correct complications. The injury resulted in nerve and spinal damage, affecting hand function, arm mobility, and balance. Through extensive rehabilitation and additional treatment, he has regained partial use of his left hand and the ability to walk independently. He is now working with High Fives to continue his physical therapy, and coordination, and return to adaptive recreational activities.
