Collin was at Mission Bay with friends enjoying the first sunny day of the season. Miscalculating the depth of the water he dove in and fractured his C5/C6 vertebrae. From a lifetime of surfing, he was able to hold his breath underwater fully conscious, but unable to move. Thanks to the quick action of his friends and San Diego first responders he is alive today.
