Conner was injured while working on his family farm. He was out changing water on a four-wheeler and while crossing through an empty drain ditch the four-wheeler tipped over. He flung himself from it when he knew he was in trouble. His boot caught the footpeg and he likely broke his back with the force of throwing himself from the ATV. He had a buddy working with him so he was able to call for help while Conner remained still in the bottom of the ditch.
