While riding an ATV in central Nevada in July 2020 a fellow rider/friend was performing a reckless maneuver behind Daniel in a side by side UTV and cut it too close and rear ended him doing about 60 mph. They were only 2 people in the middle of no where so a helicopter flight back to Las Vegas was required.  Daniel spent 6 weeks in ICU and was then flown up to Salt Lake for 7 weeks of rehabilitation.
