Emma Read
Emma was injured in a car accident while driving back to her parents home in Canyon Creek, Alberta, after a trip to Slave Lake. A moose walking along the highway entered her path, causing a collision that crushed her vehicle and resulted in a C6/C7 spinal cord injury. The accident occurred just before teh COVID-19 pandemic, and Emma spent six months between the ICU and hospital while pandemic-related restrictions created additional challenges in her recovery and ability to regain independence.
