Franklin was injured on December 13th, 2019 at Mount Snow resort in Vermont, where he was skiing with a group of friends who skied together weekly. He was skiing the last run of the morning when he hit an unmarked water bar containing chunks of ice. He was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where they fused T1 -T10. He is now paralyzed below T4.
