Garrett, a 28-year-old with Down Syndrome, has been an avid downhill skier for 12 years. On January 15, 2025, while skiing at Butternut Ski Area in Massachusetts, he landed on his back after a jump in the terrain park, causing a truamatic spinal cord injury at the L1 level. As a result, he is now paralyzed from the waist down.
