On December 25, 2021, Gavin’s family went skiing at an Upper Michigan resort. While navigating the slopes, Gavin caught an edge and collided with a fence that protected skiers from a ravine below. His helmet was destroyed but saved his life, and thankfully, he didn’t suffer any brain injury.
