John and his wife  Elizabeth are the owners of a thriving personal training business, Fit Plus+ in Columbus, Ohio. John has spent his life teaching healthy living and motivating his clients to be as active and healthy as possible.

On May 11, 2019 John was mountain biking and fell off of a bike ramp causing an incomplete spinal cord injury at the C3 level resulting in quadriplegia. Through intense therapy, he was able to eventually walk with assistance but continues to have very weak upper extremities
