On July 30, 2008, Josh was wakeboarding on Pineview Reservoir, after taking a few serious crashes he was nursing a sore neck and back on the beach. Josh and his two brothers decided to go for one last swim before heading to work. Josh ran into the water until the resistance was enough for him to take a surface dive. He suddenly could not move anything.

“What you have experience, no power on Earth can take away from you. Not only our experiences, but all we have done, the great thoughts we have had, and all we have suffered-none of this is lost, even though it is in the past; we have brought it into being. Having been is also a kind of being, and perhaps the surest kind.”
