Joshua Smith
During active duty in the U.S. Air Force, Josh attended SERE Combat Survival School at Fairchild AFB in June 2009. He was injured during the POW/Resistance Camp portion of training. Upon returning to his home duty station, the injuries were not properly addressed, and it took six years of advocacy to address ongoing issues with his hips, back, and shoulder. These injuries ultimately required full bilateral hip replacements, right shoulder and elbow surgeries, and continue to cause chronic back problems, including scoliosis and four discs in need of fusion or surgical intervention. Josh is currently receiving treatment for his back through a local chiropractic injury clinic.
