Truckee local, Nolan Trowe, suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury while cliff diving with friends at Emerald Pools near Auburn, CA. Nolan has started walking with the help of the High Fives and the trainers at CRJ Healing Center. Since his injury, Nolan became a freelance journalist, whose work has appeared in the New York Times and focuses on disability and disability rights. He earned his M.A. from NYU in 2019, and continues to train at CRJ when he is home.
