Sonya was injured by an IED blast while serving in the U.S. military. Shrapnel peppered her body and she sustained a traumatic brain injury from the concussive force of the explosion. Her combat experience has left her with PTSD and she experiences painful migraines on a daily basis. Although her wounds may not all be visible, they are some of the most life-changing.
