COPPER MOUNTAIN, Colo., December 23, 2020 – As part of Copper Mountain’s Play Forever commitment to protect the environment and enable participation, the resort announced today the relaunch of its lift ticket community giving program, Play It Forward Wednesdays, to continue its support for more than a dozen non-profit organizations.

Play It Forward Wednesdays is a community-based fundraising effort where Copper will donate $5 from every discounted lift ticket purchased online, in-advance, to 13 community non-profit partners on select Wednesdays throughout the 2020-21 winter season beginning on Jan. 6, 2021.

“We are proud to launch another year of giving at Copper Mountain during this time of local strain and unpredictability,” said Dustin Lyman, president and general manager of Copper Mountain. “The Play It Forward Wednesdays program allows us an opportunity to give back to organizations that strive to improve the well-being of our mountain environment, and we’re excited to provide support to those that have seen a tremendous increase in need.”

Play Forever is POWDR and Copper Mountain’s corporate responsibility commitment to protect the environment and enable participation in adventure. This past summer, Play Forever expanded to include the Copper Mountain Play It Forward fund, which has provided immediate relief to community organizations seeing an increased demand for services. Play It Forward Wednesdays will be replacing last season’s Play Forever Friday’s program, which raised more than $69,000 for local non-profits, to include a broader selection of benefit organizations.

Through the Copper Mountain Play It Forward Fund, Play It Forward Wednesday’s proceeds go to organizations whose focus is to provide support for local relief, on-mountain participation and environmental causes.

  • Local Relief: Provide localized aid to the Summit and Lake County communities in times of need.
  • Participation: Be a welcoming place for all – including youth, diverse populations and adaptive athletes – to participate in the adventure lifestyle.
  • Environment: Support organizations that are focused on protecting the environment through sustainability, education and action.

The organizations participating in the program this year include Adaptive Action Sports, Building Hope, Colorado Rapid Avalanche Deployment, High Country Conservation Center, High Fives Foundation, Blue River Watershed Group, Summit Community Care Clinic, SOS Outreach, Friends of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, Friends of the Dillon Ranger District, Summit County Safe Passages, Family & Intercultural Resource Center and Get Outdoors Leadville!.
