Slimkid3

Equal parts musical visionaries and impish class clowns, the fresh-faced Los Angeles natives ushered in a golden era of hip hop with their critically acclaimed debut, Bizarre Ride II: The Pharcyde. The album, released in 1992, gave hip hop one of its most enduring classics—“Passing Me By”—and unwittingly defined the sound of a generation. From his Gold-selling early-90s debut to his chart-topping new release, Slimkid3 brings a timeless quality to music that has long propelled hip hop’s golden-era sound into the future.

J Ross Parrelli

Sultry songstress turned community cultivator, J Ross Parrelli is what it would sound like if Joss Stone had been raised in the same duplex as Notorious B.I.G. Recently signed to Universal Records, J Ross Parrelli’s repertoire includes rap battles and festival stages from the Bronx to the Bay. Parrelli has spoken and performed at youth leadership conferences all over the globe. Her interest in education reform led her to co-found Beats, Lyrics, Leaders through which she is developing Hip Hop based curriculum now being piloted in schools, foster youth programs, and native reservations.

Tony Ozier

Tony Ozier is a Portland-based multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and producer, also known as “Captain Dookie Green” or the “Doo Doo Funk Captain.” A commanding figure, standing at 6’6,” he has pioneered a new generation of funk with his psychedelic alter-ego and uber-funky band hailing from the fictional planet Dookion. Combining soul, funk and overall feel good music, his newest offering, 36 Flavors (2015, FNBeatsGalore), features business partner and labelmate Farnell Newton, trumpeter for Jill Scott and Bootsy Collins, as well as an appearance by SlimKid3 of Pharcyde.

Farnell Newton

Trumpeter Farnell Newton is one of the most versatile musicians & educators in the Northwest, playing straight ahead jazz, smooth jazz, Latin music, soul, hip hop, funk and more. When he is not teaching at Portland State University’s Jazz Department or working with his youth jazz group, PDX Jazz Project, he is touring, recording, and sharing the stage with Skerik, Lettuce, Slightly Stoopid, Karl Denson, Galactic, Nigel Hall, sax man Mike Phillips , the DooDooFunk All-Stars, & many more.

Tyrone Hendrix

When it comes to making good music there are certain key components that make the music. Time, feel, groove and pulse are all part of what makes the drummer important to the sound. Understanding what the artist wants and the musicality, is why Tyrone Hendrix is one of the more sought after drummers in the industry. Currently, Tyrone is playing with Mike Phillips, Liv Warfield Experience, Doo Doo Funk All-Stars, Tony Furtado and has recently graced the stage with the incomparable Stevie Wonder.
