Event Spotlight – Winter Film Series #3: Adrian Ballinger 8,000 Meter Peak Skiing
Alpenglow Sports is proud to present the 3rd installment of their annual Winter Film Series on January 17, 2013 7pm at Squaw Valley’s world-famous Olympic Village Lodge.
What happens when you combine a Russian who lives in Chamonix with a Brit who lives in Squaw Valley and send them to attempt to ski the 5th and 8th tallest mountains in the world? A great story!
Guide Adrian Ballinger has had a busy 12 months in the Himalaya, living in a yellow tent far more than his condo in Tahoe. Along the way he became the first person to ski from Manaslu’s true summit, failed to be the first person to ski from Makalu’s summit, skied some truly inspirational snow, skied some truly awful snow, almost lost a few toes, kicked off some very large avalanches, and, most importantly, survived. Join us for a story from the roof of the world about the very new world of 8000-meter peak ski guiding.
All shows in the Alpenglow Winter Film Series are FREE and designed to motivate, inspire, and educate! Amazing raffle prizes from our generous sponsor Marmot, La Sportiva, Goal Zero and Edelrid will be raffled, with the proceeds to benefit the High Fives Foundation.
Please note the Alpenglow Sports Winter Film Series has a new venue, Squaw Valley USAs world-famous Olympic Village Lodge. Drink specials are available; show begins at 7pm. Call Alpenglow Sports at 530.583.6917 with questions.
