Fight Back Against Cancer with the Got Love? Foundation
From GotLove?Foundation.org: On February 6, 2010 our friend, and loved one was suddenly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. With no signs or symptoms other then having pain in her side, her world was quickly turned upside down. A competitive big mountain Freeskier, Tamara Guttmans life quickly changed from conquering first descents and big mountain lines, to battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer with no insurance. Having lived in Truckee, Ca for only five months, Tamara only knew a limited amount of people and we were scared that she would not receive the proper treatment that she needed in order to fight this awful disease. Her oncologist Dr. Larry Heifetz of the Tahoe Forest Cancer Center, assured us that he would treat her regardless of her financial situation and suddenly there was hope for Tamaras recovery. Once word for Tamaras diagnosis spread around town, a group of incredible friends and now family, put together an amazing benefit party for her to help cover medical expenses, called Tahoes Got Love and thus started the Tahoes Got Love/Got Love Foundation. The Got Love Foundation is a non-profit organization with a portion of the proceeds going towards pancreatic cancer research and the remaining portion staying in the Tahoe Community to help uninsured cancer patients with travel expenses, food costs, and medical expenses.
