WHAT NEXT? LIFE AFTER A SPINAL CORD INJURY

Ten years in the mountains and it all came down to one horrible crash for photographer and wilderness mountaineering instructor Jim Harris’ life to change forever.

In November 2014, Jim was practicing ski turns with a traction kite in Patagonia when the wind picked him up, whipped him around and threw him into the side of the mountain, resulting in a brutal spinal cord injury. For a while, Jim had no feeling or ability to move in his lower body. If you follow him on Instagram (@perpetualweekend), you can follow his progress: he’s now walking without the help of poles and has made huge strides.

What would you do when everything changes? Once active but now in a wheelchair, Jim’s attitude and perseverance is inspiring. He’s thankful to have the opportunity to recover at all, and I guarantee this film will bring tears to your eyes as you join him on an expedition harder than any mountain climb. Jim Harris has many more places to go, emotionally and physically. If you’ve ever sustained a sports injury or need motivation for whatever is holding you down in life, this video is worth a watch.

The film will be released in Fall 2015.
