High Fives Foundation Launches “Athlete Animations” Series, Showcasing Injured Athletes Boldly Reclaiming Their Sports.
Five videos use 2D animation to show spinal cord injury recovery and triumph in sports.
The High Fives Foundation unveils five new animated videos in its “Athlete Animations” series. These unique 2D animations, crafted by talented artist Erik Salas, highlight the stories of athletes with spinal cord injuries as they return to sports, overcoming physical challenges with determination.
The “Athlete Animations” series shines a spotlight on the athletes’ journeys of recovery, their passion for sport, and the support they’ve received from the High Fives Foundation community. Through animation, these powerful stories come to life in a creative and engaging format, helping to break down stereotypes about disabilities and inspire broader conversations around inclusivity in sports.
Featured athletes include; Jesse Alberi (High Fives Ambassador from Dillon, Montana), Tim Burr (High Fives Employee from Glenwood Springs, Colorado), Tony Schmiesing (High Fives Athlete #16 from Berkeley, California), Alana Nichols (High Fives Ambassador from Reno, Nevada), & Dan Soller (High Fives Athlete #230 from Grand Junction, Colorado).
Each video emphasizes the unique journey of recovery and the joy of rediscovering athletic passions. The animations express gratitude to the High Fives Foundation’s generous donors and supporters, whose contributions empower these athletes to achieve their dreams, inspire others, and continue pushing boundaries.
“These videos offer a creative lens through which to view disability, sport, and recovery. We hope they serve as a beacon of inspiration not only for the athletes themselves but for anyone facing adversity.”
Said Becca Lefanowicz, Brand & Creative Director at High Fives Foundation
