Inspirational Athlete: Will Lachenauer

Reno resident Will Lachenauer, a London Paralympic hopeful, won the 2012 National Criterium Handcycle championship held by USA Cycling in Greenville SC on May 29, 2012.

Will calls Reno NV home with his wife Tanya and two daughters Uma and Deja. He was paralyzed in May of 2008 racing motocross. He continues to pursue competition and excellence just as he did before his injury, earning a place last month on the US National Paracycling team. He will be a top contender vying for one of the coveted 6 slots on the US team that will head to London for the Paralympics. The final Paralympic qualifying event was held in Augusta GA on June 21, 2012 where 200 of the best US Paralympic cyclists went head to head in a time trial.

Will can be seen riding his SRAM and Easton equipped handcycle all over the Reno/Tahoe area as he trains for upcoming events. Stay tuned for an update on Will’s pursuit of making the US National Paracycling team!
