Best Duo // Jack and Alec Bruce

The Mothership classic ski a thon raised $37,500 for the High Fives Foundation last week! 75 participants skied and snowboarded over 1,200 laps on Alpine Meadows’ Summit Express Chairlift. The two youngest competitors, Alec and Jack Bruce, were recognized for their achievements in the event by winning Best Duo.

Jack who is a ski racer on the Squaw Valley Race Team dedicated his race on Sunday to Jacob Schick, third generation marine & #HighFivesAthlete, who he met during the Mothership Classic.

“This has been an absolute soul-feeding experience,” said Schick. “I couldn’t be more thankful for and more proud of the new family I’ve got here in Tahoe who embody the warrior spirt.” Schick was injured in combat in 2004. After rehabbing and strength-building with Dallas non-profit the Adaptive Training Foundation, Schick received an Empowerment Grant from the High Fives Foundation to accomplish his goal of skiing again.
