Love and Sexuality within the disabled community

Love and sexuality within the disabled community is something that has simply never been covered. Now is the time because no one should go through life feeling like there is nothing to guide them through it, disability or not.

Psychology would say that most people go through their whole working out issues from childhood, and if unresolved, those issues usually affect our ability to have successful relationships. But theres no point in trying to sound to smart, because thats not what I or this documentary is about. Its about tapping into the heart of people who have no choice but to figure things out on their own. No doctor or diagnosis could tell you how to feel as a person with a disability, and because of that, the disabled community brings me more hope then I know how to handle. Thats why I have to make documentaries….long long films about the underdog, the people who live with themselves everyday and everyday go through something I hope I can never fathom. I have to honor this community by giving them a place to speak and connect, and thats what I am going to do. When it comes to love, sex, and marriage, and raising children, all I know is that it is fascinating and it seems like an impossible task. Many people I know dream to raise a child, or be a long term husband or wife. I also know many people who are disabled who have that same dream. Wether they pursue that dream is their decision, but it’s my decision to make a film that could make them feel more confident with doing so. I just want there to be a platform for people to have that they can use to relate to others.  To not feel so insufficient to fall in love or dance with someone else in a wheel chair, or make love to the man or woman whom they’ve connected with. I believe I am the right man for the job because I may not be a smart man, but I do know what love is. Thanks a million – Ben
