MOVIE MONDAY | PHIL HOBAN

High Fives would like to congratulate #HighFivesAthlete Phil Hoban and his beautiful wife, Heidi, for getting hitched this past weekend!

Coming off the best ski season of his life, which included participation in filming G.N.A.R. The Movie, Phil Hoban suffered a burst fracture of his C-5 vertebrae on January 1, 2011 while skiing at Squaw Valley. Initially paralyzed from the neck down, he spent five weeks in the Renown Rehabilitation Hospital in Reno, NV. After returning home to Truckee, he continued a rigorous rehab schedule with the best the area has to offer. Fueled by the continued love and support of family and friends, and MANY High Fives, Phil made his triumphant return to the mountains on the morning of January 2, 2012.

“I have absolutely no regrets about my accident. This whole experience has only made me stronger!” #HighFivesAthlete Phil Hoban

“After a very long and arduous 366 day journey, it was finally time to get some redemption and get back on the slopes! Being surrounded by a great group of friends helped motivate and encourage me. The feeling of clicking into my skis again and sitting down on my first chair at Alpine Meadows ski resort was very special. While my level of skiing is definitely different than it was before I broke my neck, the connection I felt with the mountain was the same as I’d remembered. I continue to work very hard on my rehab, and hope that someday very soon I will return to the level of skiing I was at pre-injury!” – #HighFivesAthlete Phil Hoban
